How to report final sports scores

There’s more to a sports score report than meets the eye.

Always list the visitor first and the home team second when posting the final score. For example, Giants 2 – Padres 5, means that the game was played in San Diego.

However, when listing that the Giants lost in the text of the article, the score should read something like “the Giants lost 5-2.”
