Editor-in-Chief

This position shall be filled by a staff member who has demonstrated the following qualities:

  • strong leadership
  • strong writing and editing skills
  • ability to set and meet deadlines
  • coaching skills
  • strong oral communication skills
  • strong organizational skills
  • solid understanding of layout design
  • solid understanding of professional journalism ethics
  • minimum 16 hours shadowing/interning with editor-in-chief and/or copy editor (documented)

Copy Editor

This position shall be filled by a staff member who has demonstrated the following qualities:

  • strong grammar skills
  • strong writing and editing skills
  • ability to set and meet deadlines
  • coaching skills
  • proofreading
  • understand and create theme – headline/lede/story are thematic
  • strong oral communication skills
  • solid understanding of professional journalism ethics
  • minimum 16 hours shadowing/interning with copy editor (documented)

Photo Editor

This position shall be filled by a staff member who has demonstrated the following qualities:

  • competent in basic photo requirements – depth of field, lighting, shutter speed
  • demonstrated ability in using digital camera
  • demonstrated ability to use design software to crop/enhance photos
  • solid understanding of professional journalism ethics regarding photojournalism
  • minimum 16 hours shadowing/interning with professional photojournalist (documented)

Design Editor

This position shall be filled by a staff member who has demonstrated the following qualities:

  • strong design background
  • ability to set and meet deadlines
  • understand and create theme
  • demonstrated experience on design software
  • ability to work under pressure
  • solid understanding of professional journalism ethics
  • minimum 16 hours of shadowing/interning with profesional design editor (documented)
