"It was twenty years ago today,
Sgt. Pepper taught the band to play.
They've been going in and out of style,
But they're guaranteed to raise a smile." - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
Raise a smile indeed! More than 45 years ago, the Beatles changed the way people listened to music. The Beatles Rock Band is an exciting game that gives fans and music lovers of all ages the opportunity to try their hand and voice at playing 45 of the Beatles songs. You can play the songs individually or go through the story line, which takes you from their earliest beginnings at the Cavern Club through their final performance on top of the roof at Apple Corp.
The Beatles Rock Band is a "Hello Goodbye" type of situation because after taking a break from playing the game, you just want to "Get Back" and play one of the authentic guitar replica's, Ringo's drum set and/or use one of the three microphones to sing harmony and "Twist and Shout" to the game all over again. The backgrounds and different "dreamscapes" give you an overall feeling that you are part of the band itself.
For those such as myself that have heard of the songs, but never quite paid much attention to the Beatles themselves, I can say with honesty that I have a new favorite band to add to my list of music, which I will continue to play even "When I'm 64."
The Beatles Rock Band is a lot like playing Guitar Hero, but different in appeal and entertainment value. Whereas Guitar Hero is based on random songs of artists, the Beatles Rock Band is based on the life of the Beatles as a band. Unlocking rewards in the game include photographs and rare audio clips from the Apple Corp's archives. For the fan and those who generally like the Beatles, I would highly recommend they give this game a try.
